Great Catch is exactly what the title implies, a great catch. A new generation of circus artists has emerged in the Netherlands who not only have fantastic skills, but also create funny, moving and personal theatre performances. For the second edition of Great Catch - Fresh taste of circus, the Circuscoalitie selected three original productions by fresh circus talent that will tour Dutch theaters together: Luuk Brantjes, Harvey Cobb and Tête-bêche. A surprising program full of adventurous circus performances. Catch it if you can!

L O N E from Luuk Brantjes

Luuk Brantjes is specialized in the possibilities of the teeterboard, with allows force to be converted into a state of weightlessness. L O N E expresses the delicate balance between being alone or lonely. In a world where we are constantly connected, that fear of being alone has increased. L O N E is a tribute to the singles, to the free spirits, and to everyone's most inventive self.

3+ 1 from Tête-bêche

The acrobat trio Tête-bêche combines the game of diabolo with partner acrobatics in their new show 3+1. Marieke Thijssen Charlie Wheeler and Wilko Schütz built a complex web of hypnotic choreographies, interspersed with spectacular moments in which not only the diabolo, but the acrobats soar through the air.

Pink Boots and An Alcoholic Sock Puppet from Harvey Cobb

Harvey Cobb won the BNG Bank Circusprijs in 2022 with his distinct mix of comedy, improvisation and juggling. During this night, Harvey plays part of his hilarious solo Pink Boots and An Alcoholic Sock Puppet: a mix of absurd stand-up routines, heartfelt sincerity and an abundance of pink boots, making you wonder whether everything is going terribly amiss or exactly according to plan.

Great Catch is precies wat de titel impliceert, een geweldige vangst. We kunnen niet meer om het hedendaagse circus heen. In Nederland is een nieuwe generatie circusartiesten opgestaan die niet alleen fantastische skills heeft, maar daar ook nog grappige, ontroerende en persoonlijke theatervoorstellingen mee maakt.

L O N E van Luuk Brantjes

Luuk Brantjes heeft zich gespecialiseerd in de mogelijkheden van het teeterboard (wipplank), waarmee kracht omgezet kan worden in een staat van gewichtloosheid. In L O N E maakt hij de balans op tussen alleen of eenzaam zijn. In een wereld waar we constant met elkaar verbonden zijn, lijkt de angst voor het alleen zijn gegroeid. L O N E is een eerbetoon aan de singles, aan de vrijbuiters, aan ieders inventieve ik.

3+ 1 van Tête-bêche

Acrobatentrio Tête-bêche combineert in 3+1 het spel van de diabolo met partneracrobatiek. Marieke Thijssen, Charlie Wheeler en Wilko Schütz bouwen een complex web van hypnotiserende choreografieën, afgewisseld met spectaculaire momenten waarbij niet alleen de diabolo maar ook de acrobaten door de lucht vliegen.

Pink Boots and An Alcoholic Sock Puppet van Harvey Cobb

Harvey Cobb won in 2022 de BNG Bank Circusprijs met zijn eigenzinnige mix van comedy, improvisatie en jongleren. Harvey speelt een deel uit zijn hilarische solo Pink Boots and An Alcoholic Sock Puppet. Een mix van maffe stand-up, doorvoelde oprechtheid en een overvloed aan roze laarzen, waarbij je gaat afvragen of alles vreselijk fout gaat of precies volgens plan.

Over de Circuscoalitie

Great Catch is een initiatief van de Circuscoalitie. De partners zijn Rotterdam Circusstad, TENT, Korzo, Festival Circolo, Buro Piket in samenwerking met MAAS theater en dans, Circusbende Festival, De Schuur, Bijlmer Parktheater, Panama Pictures, Deventer op Stelten en de opleidingen Codarts en Fontys. Met deze samenwerking willen ze bijdragen aan een goed klimaat voor de creatie en presentatie van circus in Nederland. De CircusCoalitie zet in op het stimuleren van talent, speelplekken en publiek voor circus.
