Over Roël Calister:
Roël Calister is een percussionist, componist en artistiek leider uit Curaçao, bekend om zijn unieke mix van Afro-Caribische ritmes en hedendaagse klanken. Na zijn studies Jazz Drums en Latin Percussie aan het Rotterdams Conservatorium richtte hij drumdrumdrum op, een platform voor interactieve familievoorstellingen. Daarnaast leidt hij KUENTA, een festivalband die optrad op onder andere Glastonbury, SXSW en Mysteryland. In 2024 lanceerde Roël het Roël Calister Ensemble, dat in 2025 het theaterprogramma The Work of Songs presenteert, waarin de troostende en verbindende kracht van muziek centraal staat.
Roël Calister discovered his passion for music early in life. Growing up in Curaçao, he crafted his first drum set from old buckets and cans, spending countless hours in the backyard playing and singing along to the island's most popular hits.His innate musicality and enthusiasm were evident from the start.
