ADI(C)SCO is een schijnbaar oneindige danstrip op zoek naar de roes, naar alsmaar doorgaan en daarin jezelf verliezen: ofwel verslaving. De voorstelling ademt dan ook de sfeer van de disco-era, waarin de clubscene en ook clubdrugs populair werden. ADI(C)SCO is een feest dat uit de hand loopt en nooit eindigt. Met deze voorstelling wil Moisio de taboes en schaamte rondom verslaving aankaarten. Moisio zelf groeide op met een alcoholistische vader en heeft dus daarom een sterke persoonlijke motivatie om deze thematiek bespreekbaar maken. 

Moisio wordt gezien als één van de meest eclectische makers van ons land en ontving hiervoor de Prijs van de Nederlandse dansdagen – Jong Publiek. Tijdens haar danscarrière werd zij twee keer genomineerd voor dansprijs ‘De Zwaan’. Cecilia Moisio werkte al verschillende keren met Club Guy & Roni en maakte onder andere ‘V’; de absolute festivalhit op de Parade.

Cecilia Moisio is gefascineerd door de onbewuste gedragspatronen die voortkomen uit de verwachtingen waaraan we moeten voldoen en de sociale normen die ons worden opgelegd. Als zelfbenoemd ‘psychologisch activist’ is ze altijd op zoek naar wat er achter onze motieven, emoties en gedrag schuilt en wil ze haar publiek confronteren met onuitgesproken taboes.

Met haar performances legt ze zorgvuldig opgebouwde facades bloot. Moisio doet dat in een uitgesproken interdisciplinaire vorm die ergens tussen theater, dans en performancekunst ligt. Haar voorstelling zijn dynamisch, vol rauwe emoties, humor en een zuivere, beheerste choreografie. Cecilia wil met deze voorstelling de taboes en schaamte rondom verslaving aankaarten. Moisio zelf groeide op met een alcoholistische vader en heeft dus daarom een sterke persoonlijke motivatie om deze thematiek bespreekbaar maken.

In the annual Club Guy & Roni Invites event, international dance company Club Guy & Roni works with talented up-and-coming artists it feels an affinity for and wants to bring to a wider audience. The event puts the new generation of dance makers on the map with urgent, hard-hitting and unmissable interdisciplinary performances.

This year, after Kwame Asafo-Adjei, Dunja Jocic, Lunatics & Poets, and Mohamed Yusuf Boss, it’s the turn of Finnish-born choreographer Cecilia Moisio and singer and actor Sarah Janneh.  

Moisio is one of the Netherlands’ most eclectic directors and choreographers, and a winner of the Prijs van de Nederlandse Dansdagen young audience award. She has also twice been nominated for the De Zwaan award of the VSCD Theatre and Concert Hall Federation. 

Moisio has worked with Club Guy & Roni on several occasions, and makes expressively theatrical pieces on key contemporary issues. Her thrillingly excitingly sensual, in-your-face performance about the vulva, V, produced in collaboration with Club Guy & Roni’s Poetic Disasters Club (junior company), was a smash hit at the De Parade festival.

ADI(C)SCO is a dance trip in search of the ultimate high, one that keeps going until you’re lost in your addiction. The performance is deeply rooted in the disco era and its drug culture, a party that gets out of hand and never ends. 

With its 1970s aesthetic, extravagant personalities, and electrifying beats, Moisio’s performance highlights the taboos and shame surrounding addiction. She grew up with an alcoholic father, so she has strong personal reasons for putting this issue on the map.

Sarah Janneh was born in 1994. She began her training at the Muziekconservatorium in Tilburg, went to Theaterschool Amsterdam in 2012, and graduated in 2016. She became a member of NITE (Nationaal Interdisciplinair Theater Ensemble) in 2021.  

Janneh has featured in the NITE performance Before/after, and in Witch hunt , Exit Macbeth, and Yara’s wedding, and makes regular film and television appearances. In 2023 she was a contestant in the reality TV programme Wie is de Mol? (Who’s the mole?)

We’ve already heard her singing in NITE’s large-scale interdisciplinary performances, and now she stages her first solo song programme for Club Guy & Roni Invites. Entitled Both worlds, it is a musical quest for her roots.   

Cecilia Moisio is fascinated by the unconscious behaviour patterns forced on us by others’  expectations and social norms. As a self-proclaimed “psychological activist”, she is always looking for the factors underlying our motives, emotions, and behaviour. Her performances confront her  audiences with unspoken taboos and break down elaborately constructed facades. They are dynamic and interdisciplinary, somewhere between theatre, dance, and performance art, full of raw emotions and humour and pure, controlled choreography.
